A proud moment for the club

We’re delighted to announce that Wakefield Hockey Club is now one of the very few clubs in the North to have earned Talent Centre Accreditation for junior development from England Hockey.

So, what does Talent Centre status mean for our juniors?

It’s a recognition that we’ve put everything in place to offer a high-quality junior talent programme. For our juniors and young players looking to join us it means we offer:

  • A fully-rounded approach to young player development based on the England Hockey approved Talent Foundation programme
  • A particular focus on those aged 12-15 years, who are showing potential and aspiration to progress their hockey.
  • Excellent facilities, coaching, management, child welfare and safeguarding.
  • A safe, enjoyable, and inspirational environments for our young hockey players.
  • A club structure that offers clear, well-supported progression from junior to senior hockey.
  • Strong connections with the regional talent framework, with opportunities for young players to fulfil their talent at the highest level.
  • A centre of excellence for junior hockey.

Matt Anderson, Director of Coaching says, “We’re really proud to become a Talent Centre. It’s a reflection of all the hard work we have done, raising the level of coaching and support for players. It’s an exciting time to be a junior at Wakefield Hockey Club!”

Marc Earnshaw, Junior Chair adds, “It’s involved many hours of hard work from the management team across the club – all volunteers – and it is a strong statement of our ambition for the club. Wakefield is a centre of excellence for junior hockey.”
