England Hockey selects 2 Wakefield ladies junior players for Futures Cup 2017!
Taryn Allen and Olivia Wilson have been selected to play in the Pennine Pumas squad in the Futures Cup 2017 at St Albans Hockey club between 23rd and 27th August. A great opportunity to showcase their skills as the England selectors will be watching and looking to pick out future talent for the U16 & U18 England squads! Both girls started playing hockey aged 9 in the WHC junior section, progressing their way through the age groups. In 2014 they also began playing senior hockey, starting in the 5th team. They have shown how much they have developed since then by both securing a place in the 2nd team this year.
Taryn is a goalkeeper; she also plays in goal for her school in U15, U16 and the 1st team. The school team reached the ISHC finals this year and were placed second in England. Taryn also received the award for player of the tournament. She has followed the England pathway through the performance centres and has been selected for North of England for the last 2 years. This year she was in the U15 performance squad and as well as being selected for futures cup has been selected for the U17 performance centre for 2018! She has attended 2 national finals for both indoor and outdoor hockey too.
Olivia Wilson is an inside left forward; she is also Captain of her school team, the same one Taryn plays for! She led the team to the finals of the ISHC tournament this year where they were placed 2nd in England. Olivia has also followed the England pathway and was 1st selected for the performance centre in 2016. She played in the U15 performance team this year and will be playing in the Pennine Pumas squad for The Futures Cup 2017. She has also been selected for the U17 performance team for 2018!
