U12 Girls at National Finals

U12 Girls at National Finals

The U12 girls qualified for the National In2hockey Finals @ Beeston last Saturday, after finishing as North Regional runners-up. They had a fantastic day out and finished as the 7th best team in England.  Against some high quality opponents the girls competed strongly in all matches, winning 1, drawing 1 & losing 2 of the pool games (against Guildford, Worcester, Canterbury and Yeovil/Sherborne). A great 7th/8th play-off match versus Bournemouth was the highlight – finishing 1-1 it went to penalty flicks. Hollie Bott made some brilliant saves in goal, and nerves of steel + great finishes from Ella Haigh and Olivia Millican won the tie for Wakefield.
The squad showed how much they benefitted from the experience and demonstrated what quick learners they are, by winning the last two matches. There was superb support from the parents and sportingly from our Yorkshire rivals,Thirsk (who finished 6th). A great atmosphere, and an awesome finish to a great season. Well done girls!
