Wakefield Hockey Club is a lively inclusive club. It has Men’s, Ladies’ and Junior Sections. It now offers Flyerz hockey for players with disabilities. The section started in 2014. It has now grown to about a dozen members. The age range is from 8 to adult.
Cost is £2.50 per session and, for regular attenders, a membership fee of £15.
Bring sports clothes and shoes and a drink of water. We provide the other equipment.
Sessions are 7-8 on Tuesday evenings. In the summer we meet at Wakefield Sports Club, Eastmoor Road, WF1 3RR. We play on an outdoor pitch. In the winter we meet indoors. In 2016-7, from October to March, we are using Kettlethorpe School Hall, Standbridge Lane, Sandal, Wakefield WF2 7EL .
Players say that they enjoy the sessions and they are getting fitter. They learn new skills, make friends and have fun. At times we have the chance to visit other Flyerz clubs for games and socialising.
Some players have learning disabilities or autistic spectrum disorders. Some have other disabilities. Our coaches and volunteers will do their best to help anyone to play.
The Hockey Club has approved the coaches and volunteer helpers.
If you want to try hockey, call Dr Tom on 07966228505, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or turn up to a session. Rarely, we may miss a week, so contacting us beforehand or checking on Facebook /FlyerzWakefield or Twitter @flyerzhockeywak is advised.
